Objective

The purpose of this course is to provide an introduction to the regulation and supervision of financial markets in the European Union.

  • Scope of financial market regulation in the European Union
  • The European supervisory architecture (EBA, ESMA and EIOPA), the Single Supervisory Mechanism and the role of the ECB
  • Crisis management for financial institutions in the EU: recovery and resolution for systemically relevant financial institutions
  • Structural reforms of EU banks and the regulation of shadow banking
  • Overview of relevant rules: MiFID, MiFIR, CRD in the light of Basel III, UCITS and AIFMD
  • Aspects of financial crime with a focus on the Market Abuse Directive

Visit to the European Central Bank

Participants will have the opportunity to attend a lecture at the ECB in Frankfurt.
