ERA Programme on Equality Law ERA runs two major training programmes on ”EU Anti-discrimination Law” and ”EU Gender Equality Law” for judges, legal practitioners and academics from all EU Member States, under the ”Rights, Equality and Citizenship Programme 2014-2020” of the European Commission. | | |
ERA Webinars on Discrimination Law The anti-discrimination series of seminars is devoted to the two European anti-discrimination Directives: Directive 2000/78 prohibits all forms of discrimination in employment and occupation based on religion or belief, disability, age and sexual orientation; Directive 2000/43 goes beyond and prohibits all forms of discrimination based on race or ethnic origin not only on the employment area but also education, social protection and access to goods and services. The equality legislation has brought about new concepts in equality in the Member States with far reaching consequences, such as a prohibition of direct and indirect discrimination, the shift of the burden of proof or clear provisions on remedies in case of discrimination. The case law of the CJEU plays an important role in shaping and clarifying this "acquis" in its numerous decisions on this topic. Watch ERA e-Learning on Gender Equality Law!
