| Aim of the contest The contest will bring together new qualified lawyers from different European countries at a time when they are undergoing entry level training. The Project aims to: -
Promote a forum of discussion on European and International Law subjects. -
Promote exchanges of experiences between the participants. -
Obtain and spread interesting and useful theses on the chosen subject -
Encourage the development of the critical thinking and communication skill -
Promote and foster relationships among participants from across the European Bars represented in the competition

| Format The whole contest will be conducted in English at ERA in Trier. Teams of three or four young lawyers from different nationalities each will compete with each other. The contest will be organised in three rounds: -
First round: written report and oral presentation on a question of European law selected among the topics of the Justice programme 2014-2020 -
Second round: negotiation exercise -
Third round: the winners of the previous rounds will confront each other in an oral debate in the style of a moot court pleading.
Fees and expenses The participation is reserved to countries eligible under the Justice programme 2014-2020. Candidates from these countries benefit from the reimbursement of their travel and accommodation costs. The fee per contestant is €236. Contestants from Denmark and the UK can apply. They will have to bear their own travel, catering, and accommodation costs.
Selection procedure and registration The deadline to register online is 1 September 2019. The registration will be followed by a selection procedure the result of which will be communicated to each applicant via e-mail, and publication on the following Website: www.younglawyerscontest.eu | |
