The Control of Subsidiarity from the Perspective of the House of Commons

Paul Hardy presents the methodology used by the UK's House of Commons European Scrutiny Committee in its review of EU documents and, in particular, the approach adopted in respect of the question of subsidiarity. He explains the role of the Committee and its working methods and discusses how the Subsidiarity Protocol and is implemented by the House of Commons. He also makes some recommendations as to how the protocol should be improved.
