- Q & A with Fatma Ayça İzmirlioglu
What is your legal and legal background, your current occupation and country of work?
I’m an Assistant Professor in at the Izmir Democracy University in Izmir, Turkey at the Faculty of Law, Department of Labour and Social Security Law.
How do you use European law in your current work?
I am lecturing labour law courses both in English and in Turkish at several universities, and when appropriate I draw comparisons between European labour law Directives and Turkish labour law legislation. I also use European law in my publications as well, since my LLM degree is about European Union law.
What was your motivation for attending this particular event?
As my studies are directly about Turkish labour law and European labour law, I wish to improve my European labour law knowledge and be up to date about the Court of Justice of the European Union's current decisions. Labour law has a changing legislation according to current needs. For this reason, I want to follow the developments about European labour law so that I can mention it in my articles and courses. Besides that, Turkish labour legislation is affected directly by European labour law.
How did you benefit from the scholarship?
The Annual Conference on EU labour law improved my knowledge and gave me inspirations for my publications and studies. I also had the chance to follow recent developments and current judicial decisions about EU labour law.
