- Q & A with Ionut Florin Stircu
What is your legal background, your current occupation and country of work?
I am an Attorney-at-law, member of the Bucharest Bar since 2013 and currently I am working as a Senior Lawyer with Bondoc si Asociatii SCA – in exclusive alliance with White & Case LLP, which I joined in April 2014.
How do you use European law in your current work?
My experience relates to legal assistance provided to customers in the fields of EU law, real estate, corporate and commercial law, mergers & acquisitions, dispute resolution and insolvency. I am part of the team retained by several foreign clients interested in developing international real estate projects, merger processes or other transnational commercial projects and I have gained experience in all stages of the transactions, beginning with the due diligence reports and completing with aspects connected to the transaction itself (negotiations and the execution of the memorandum of understanding, sale-purchase agreements and the related documents).
What was your motivation for attending this particular event?
I believe that my background and my qualifications corresponded to the content of the Summer School. My daily activity also implies legal and doctrine research regarding national and European legislation, reviewing and analyzing relevant documents for each project, identifying legal issues and providing solutions, meetings and correspondence with the clients.
How did you benefit from the scholarship?
By participating to ERA Summer Course on Cross-Border Civil Litigation, I was able to extend my legal knowledge in the fields of European Union Law and to work and study amongst one of the most prestigious lawyers and law students participating to this summer school. The intense legal exchange offered the opportunity to become more familiar with the EU legal system, to create or consolidate cross-border networking capacities, and to improve my legal and linguistic skills and competences.
