What is your legal background, your current occupation and country of work?
I am lawyer of the Fit and Proper Division (Suitability Assessments) at the Vice-secretariat General
of Banco de España.
How do you use European law in your current work?
As a result of my work, and in particular in relation to the suitability assessment procedures of
high officers of financial and credit institutions, I must directly apply European regulations
(Directive 2013/36/EU of the European Parliament and of the Council of 26 June 2013,
regarding access to the activity of credit institutions and prudential supervision of credit
institutions and investment companies, amending Directive 2002/87/EC and repealing
Directives 2006/48/CE and 2006/49/EC), as well as directly applying the Guidelines issued by
the European Central Bank, the European Banking Authority (EBA), etc.
What was your motivation for attending this particular event?
I wanted to participate in this summer course in order to strengthen my knowledge about the
financial regulation and supervision, to widen my curriculum vitae; and also to make valuable
contacts and get in touch with professionals within the industry in the summer course.
I wanted also to learn more in depth about Market abuse regime and Payments, clearing and
settlement (PSD2, CBPR, EMIR, CSDR).
How did you benefit from the scholarship?
I took advantage of the incredible teachers and the in-depth presentations of all of them.
