- Q & A with Natalia Liaropoulou
Your current occupation and country of work?
I am a Supreme Court Attorney at Law, and I run my own Law Office in Athens, Greece. I represent clients before criminal and civil courts, and I also apply Alternative Dispute Resolution.
How you use European law in your work?
I apply GDPR disputes to civil and criminal cases.
How you benefitted from the scholarship and the gained knowledge?
Currently, I represent clients in Greece, but many aspects of their cases are based in Cyprus. Since Cypriots and Greeks belong to the same nation but to different states, this Summer Course on European Family Law contributed to my study on jurisdiction and applicable law on matters like cross-border divorce, maintenance obligations and property regimes of international couples.
In addition, during the social programme, I had the opportunity to meet other participants who could become potential partners from other EU Member States, including Cyprus.
Finally, the visit to the Court of Justice of the European Union and the lectures before and after the oral proceedings made me say that: The Academy of European Law provided an educational, legal and social experience BEYOND MY EXPECTATIONS!
