21 June – 25 June 2021
“Due to the pandemic the Summer Course took place online; however, I had the chance to ask many questions and interact with experts of European Law. We could discuss and solve case studies in break-out rooms, which made this experience very exciting.” 11/07/2021 | ![]() |
- Q & A with Nensi Sinanaj
Your current occupation and country of work?
I am currently pursuing a double Doctorate in Legal Sciences from the University of Milan-Bicocca (Italy) and the University of Nice Cote d’Azur (France). I consider both places to be my countries of work.
How you use European Law in your work?
At the moment I am conducting research on the topic “The International Rule of Law and its domestic interface”. A part of my work is focused on the notion of the rule of law developed by the European Union and the Council of Europe. Specifically, this part of my research is concentrated on the case law of the Court of Justice of the European Union and the European Court of Human Rights. For this reason, European Law is essential in my work.
What was your motivation to apply for a scholarship?
Before joining the Summer Course on the Rule of Law in the European Union, I had previously attended another ERA event on EU Gender Equality. I was very satisfied with this workshop and this pushed me into applying for the scholarship offered by ERA for the Summer Course on the Rule of Law. Of course, the topic of this Summer Course was highly relevant to my field of study, and I was also familiar with the work of the speakers.
How you benefited from this scholarship?
Through this scholarship I had the chance to hear presentations by individuals who represent agencies of the European Union and also from professors who have written extensively on the Rule of Law. I had the chance to ask many questions and interact with experts of European Law. Due to the pandemic the Summer Course took place online; however, we had the chance to discuss and solve case studies in break-out rooms, which made this experience very exciting.
