- Q & A with Radoslav Angelov
Your current occupation and country of work?
My name is Radoslav Angelov, and I am a junior judge in the District Court of Lovech (Court of Appeal). I administer justice in civil and criminal cases.
How you use European law in your work?
EU law is applied in each of my cases, especially in cross-border proceedings and mutual recognition of decisions, trademarks and others subject to IP Law. Therefore, the case-law date of the General Court of EU is regularly referenced in my decisions.
There were several reasons to apply for the Summer Course.
First, I had lots of positive feedback from colleagues; they found ERA trainings to be useful, practical and interesting. They use relevant teaching material on current topics.
Second, as a junior judge in the District Court of Lovech, Bulgaria, I am interested in information technology law, law in the virtual environment (e-identity, e-justice, artificial Intelligence etc.), intellectual property law and environmental protection law.
The knowledge I received from the ERA training will contribute to my professional development as a judge.
How you benefitted from the scholarship and the gained knowledge?
The Summer Course on European Intellectual Property was absolutely useful and interesting.
My high assessment is based on the following advantages of the course:
- A lot of case law has been shown. It is indispensable for practitioners.
- The lectures were presented in an easy, understandable way
- Online and paper materials have been provided
- Very good organisation;
- a visit to the CJEU.
My participation in the Summer School would not have been possible without the scholarship programme. For a junior judge without a lot of professional experience, it would have been difficult otherwise.
Thank you very much ERA for the experience!
