- Q & A with Roman Goptsii
Your current occupation and country of work?
I am a senior project manager of the Reforms Support Team at the Ministry of Finance of Ukraine.
How you use European law in your work?
Ukrainian legislation requires harmonisation with EU tax legislation because of granted EU candidate status to Ukraine. A large volume of EU regulations regarding taxes and tax administration needs to be implemented. At the same time, there are limited people, resources, and a lack of knowledge of EU law in Ukrainian state bodies. The Reforms Support Team of the Ministry of Finance will help the Ministry with these challenging tasks.
How you benefitted from the scholarship and the gained knowledge?
The beginning of work on harmonising Ukrainian legislation requires preparing a recommendation on the gradual elaboration of the provisions of the EU Directives on taxes and tax administration. As such, the knowledge I gained during the course will help me coordinate the development of a “road map” for harmonising Ukrainian legislation with EU tax legislation with a justification of the most acceptable ways and stages of adaptation.
