- Q & A with Slavko Jandrić
Your current occupation and country of work?
I work as a lawyer partner in the law office "Pucar", Miljkan Pucar, Slavica Ljubišić and Slavko Jandrić in Banja Luka, Bosnia and Herzegovina.
From June 25 to 28, I attended in Trier the Summer Course on Strategic Litigation, organised by Academy of European Law.
How do you use European law in your work?
Bosnia and Herzegovina currently has the status of a candidate for accession to the European Union, and it is extremely important for us to be familiar with the law that applies within the European Union. As a candidate country, we are obliged to harmonise our legal regulations with the regulations applied in the European Union, and that is why getting to know and applying European law is extremely important. As a professional, it is particularly important for me to be familiar with the practice of European courts, because judicial practice provides guidance as to whether something needs to be changed.
How did you benefit from the scholarship and the knowledge gained?
For me, as a professional, this way of organising the summer school is extraordinary because it insists on the interactive participation of the participants. I had the opportunity to see and hear colleagues who work in practice, which is very important for lawyers. We didn't just deal with theory. We had concrete and very interactive workshops. I believe that this is exactly the measure of theory and practice that we had in the summer school.
Thank you, dear colleagues and lecturers Geert van Calster, Dr. David Einhaus, Laura Carpaneto,Mansur Pour Rafsendjani, Miklos Redner, for allowing us to see and learn how real and high-quality professionals do it.
Hiring such high-quality colleagues and practitioners is of the greatest importance to me personally. Since the end of the summer school, I regularly follow the practice of the Court of Justice of the EU and the practice presented by my colleagues who were lecturers. It helps me a lot for my work because the ideas I find there can be applied in my practice.
The organisation of the Summer Course was excellent and impressive.
The most valuable part, however, was getting to know and working with dear colleagues.
