This e-presentation presents the practical application of the European Arrest Warrant (EAW). It highlights the significant increase in the number of EAWs issued over the years and the challenges of balancing fundamental rights with the principles of mutual recognition. Moreover, it examines recent developments in case law and highlights cases where mutual trust has been eroded. It also provides insights into recent official views of the European Parliament and the Council on the EAW. The e-presentation concludes with a focus on future action, including how to improve detention conditions in EU Member States.
