ERA SCHOLARSHIP PROGRAMME
ERA offers scholarships to legal practitioners from the Western Balkans, Moldova and Ukraine

For more than 30 years the Academy of European Law (ERA) has been bringing together lawyers, judges, in-house counsel and other legal practitioners from all across Europe for training in European law.

ERA runs a scholarship programme to ensure that all legal practitioners from EU Member States and candidate countries have the same opportunity to participate in professional training on European law.

ERA is now inviting applications for scholarships primarily (but not exclusively) from the Western Balkan countries – Albania, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Kosovo*, Montenegro, North Macedonia, Serbia – as well as Moldova and Ukraine.

The scholarship can cover up to the full costs of participation in one of the upcoming events listed here for the year 2024.

Applications must be submitted at the latest two months (for face-to-face attendance) or one month (for online events) before the conference.

With the generous support of the Friends of ERA Association, ERA provides scholarships to lawyers, judges, prosecutors and officials from EU member states, candidate countries and potential candidates who would otherwise be unable to afford to attend the events organised by ERA.

Important notes

Please read through the information below carefully before you begin your scholarship application.

  • Scholarships are only granted for one event and in principle candidates who have already received a scholarship will not be re-awarded a grant.
  • Applicants should not register for an event before obtaining a decision on their scholarship application.
  • Applicants must submit an online application explaining how the course would be relevant for their legal practice and why they are unable to cover the costs of participating.
  • Successful applicants will be asked to deliver a report on how they made use of the scholarship in their work.

The scholarship may cover one or all of the following:

• the participation fees
• a contribution towards travelling expenses
• accommodation during the event

Application Deadines:

For online participation
1 month prior to the event

For face-to-face participation (if applicable)
