- Q & A with Angeliki Sidirokastriti
What is your legal background, your current occupation and country of work?
My name is Sidirokastriti Angeliki and I am a PhD Candidate at Aristotle University of Thessaloniki, Faculty of Law, specialising in Tax Law and the Digital Economy. I work currently as a freelance lawyer in the fields of tax law, commercial law, and IP law.
How do you use European law in your current work?
I also provide services as a Data Protection Associate. In this scheme, I use provisions of EU law extensively, in combination with the national legislation, as I serve a range of clients on the national and international levels.
What was your motivation for attending this particular event?
Since the fee was high for me and there was no financing option from my university, I applied to ERA’s scholarship programme and was glad to be immediately accepted, meaning that my attendance was partially financed.
I would like to sincerely thank the Academy and its staff for providing such support to young lawyers and experts and organising these excellent events.
How did you benefit from the scholarship?
This event seemed to me to be a great chance to gather useful insights about the current state of the discussions on direct taxation. In this way, I could enrich my knowledge on the topic, using it both to consult with my clients and to move forward with my PhD research. I was honoured to be granted a scholarship and I was glad to be given the opportunity to attend such an enlightening global event, which exceeded my expectations . I would definitely recommend the Academy to my colleagues and am looking forward to further events in the future!
