The e-presentation details Frontex`s role in the EU information management architecture for security and border management. It explores the legal complexities of processing operational personal data (OPD), differentiating between OPD handled under the European Border and Coast Guard (EBCG) Regulation and OPD processed under other legal instruments like ETIAS. It also raises questions about how Chapter IX of Regulation (EU) 2018/1725 on the protection of natural persons with regard to the processing of personal data by the Union institutions, bodies, offices and agencies and on the free movement of such data applies to Frontex, particularly regarding data subject rights, necessity assessments and restrictions under the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR).
