This presentation analyses the most notable CJEU and GC judgments delivered from July 2022 to June 2023 impacting audiovisual media services. The presentation particularly covers General Court judgment T-125/22 RT France/Council and key rulings from the CJEU such as case C‑716/20 RTL television on the concept of cable retransmission under Directive 93/83/EC, case C-662/21 Booky.fi on free movement of goods in the audiovisual sector, joined cases C-775/21 and C-826/21 Blue Air Aviation and UPFR on the concept of communication to the public applied to copyright law, and several cases dealing with data retention and data protection. It also offers a quick overview of rulings adopted by the European Court of Human Rights on fundamental rights in the media sector.
